Their struggles highlight a bigger challenge: Wales has the least competitive business rates in the United Kingdom and the highest vacancy rate, this has happened for too long under Welsh Labour.
The UK Government has ensured that across the Cardiff South & Penarth people have had their jobs protected through the Job Retention Scheme.
The UK continued to support the Welsh economy with additional £650 million to help tackle coronavirus.
This extra money from the UK Government is in addition to the £5.2 billion already provided for this year through unprecedented upfront Barnett guarantees, bringing the total to £5.85 billion.
Senedd candidate for the Cardiff South & Penarth Leighton Rowlands said
“That’s why I would campaign to create “Business Rate-Free Zones” in places Penarth, Rumney & Llanrumney where all businesses would be free from paying businesses rates for up to three years.”
“In addition to this, I would look to scrap business rates for all businesses rated under £15,000 in Wales.”
